A Perfect New York Day. Part Two.

After filling up on art at MoMA, I caught up with Kelly and Jan (Kelly's Aunt) and we spent an hour wandering around Greenwich Village, enjoying the pretty residences and shop windows. Hungry, we stopped at several restaurants to read menus, but for one reason or another kept going until we had reached an "I don't care, the next restaurant we come across we are eating at" point.

Now I am not a fatalist, but considering that the New York City Department of Health lists more than 20,000 restaurants on its site, what are the chances that I would walk into the ONE with a hand painted wall mural by Maira Kalman? This simply cannot be explained by odds. I adore this woman's work. (I blogged about her here a couple of years ago.) The day before I was in the gift shop at The Whitney and bought one of her books.
I mean really.

It had already been such a nice day, and then I found myself in this wonderful little spot, where the food was yummy and I was drinking wine with my longtime best friend and looking across the table at original art by of one of my creative heroes. Well I was just giddy.
